Lash Shampoo

All lash extension wearers should use lash cleansers as part of their aftercare routine.

Many clients have dirtier lashes than normal for several potential reasons. Perhaps they wear a lot of makeup, exercise or work out frequently, or even simply have oilier skin. These conditions can lead to a lot more residue and dirt caking up on lash extensions than for clients who do not wear heavier makeup or work out regularly.

It’s critical you cleanse your lash extensions. Improper cleansing or avoiding cleansing all together will cause problems resulting in your lashes not lasting as long as they should. Not cleansing regularly or correctly also leads to potential infections, irritations, poor lash health/growth and lash mites (yes these are a real thing!).

Dead skin cells, dirt, makeup and oil will build up in your lash line very quickly! All this build up will eat away at your lash extension's bond, breaking it down over time. Lash extension glue LOVES to be kept clean in order to maintain it's strong bond to your natural lash. .

Dirty lashes causes your lash glue to become weak resulting in extensions falling off your natural lash instead of lasting the entire life of the natural lash cycle and falling out when the natural lash is shed.

  • Keeping your eyelashes clean is crucial for two main reasons: retention and lash health.

♡ It's a common myth that you shouldn’t get your lashes wet when you get extensions. That if you do, the water will compromise the integrity of the adhesive and you'll lose all of those beautiful lashes. But this couldn't be further from the truth. You should be cleaning your lashes if not daily, at least every other day with a specially formulated lash shampoo. Keeping your lashes clean allows for better retention.

♡ So we know that lashes protect your eyes from debris, they also protect your eyes from infection. Over time this buildup can lead to blepharitis. Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids commonly caused when tiny oil glands at the base of the eyelash become clogged. This causes dandruff-like flakes to form, wrapping around the base of the eyelashes. The eyelids may appear red, swollen, or feel sore. This can also cause premature loss of your natural lashes. Washing your lashes keeps this buildup from occurring.

  • Applying cuticle oil can increase the circulation around your nails, stimulating nail growth. It can also help to protect your nail and cuticle against trauma. The oil can also help improve the health and appearance of your nail.

  • If you are wondering when is the right time to get lash extensions and a lash refill, know that it can vary based on your level of upkeep as well as your everyday habits. The better you take care of them – the longer they will last! Usually and ideally, you should come back for a refill around the second week. During this period, not a lot of your lashes will shed, and they will still be easy to work with. However, if you come back later than the second or third week period, you might need a new set. All of your extensions will shed and fall out, and you will need to start from scratch.

Heads up, however, since a lash refill is cheaper than the entire set, so rather be smart and tactical about it.

  • To safely remove your lashes please book in for a removal. I do not suggest to remove them at home as this may damage your natural lashes.

  • Bloodshot eyes after eyelash extensions are most often caused by a sensitivity to formaldehyde adhesive fumes or an allergic reaction. Red eyes from a sensitivity typically disappear within 2 to 3 days with eye drops while an allergic reaction would require the removal of the lash extensions.

  • Yes it is perfectly normal for your lashes to shed daily. As the lash extension is attached to your natural lash, your lashes go through a lash cycle similar to your own hair. Depending on their individual lash growth cycles, a person can typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes every day. A new eyelash has already been growing to replace the lash that falls out and, for most of us, we don't even notice.
